DILEMMA
Publié le 31/08/2011
Saturday 3rd of September, Montpellier’s first home game of the season against Brive, but who will play no 9. Benoit Paillaugue out for 6 weeks with a suspected fractured jaw Julien Tomas on the mend but not fully fit, and the young Eric Escande holding maybe the keys to the truck. Montpellier can not afford to loose another scrum half and it certainly looks as if Eric Escande could well be playing a leading role in Saturday’s game.
The coaches will certainly have something to think about over the next couple of days, last week Eric Escande was thrown into the deep end when he replaced Benoit Paillaugue after he sustained his injury, but the youngster did not fail, giving an excellent showing in a very complex situation. This week he could well be on the team sheet but starting at scrum half instead of being on the bench.
The team will be similar to the one that went to Paris against Racing but Jimmy Nagusa and Martin Bustos-Moyano are both back from World Cup duties after not being retained by their respective countries, so at least that will give the coaches some other options in the back line.
Brive has always been a bogey team to our Blue and Whites and although they lost their opening match of the season at home to Agen by a single point, they will be coming to Montpellier to try and rectify that and will be keen to get an away win. Montpellier will be tackling this game with the up most of care as they cannot afford any slip ups at home, and this being the first home game of the season will want to show their supporters that they mean to carry on from where they left off last season.
If you have not already purchased your tickets for this match the ticket office in the Boutique is open during normal hours right up to the game so do not miss out and make sure you are present for the first home game of the season.
MONTPELLIER v BRIVE ko.14.15 Stade Yves du Manoir. Sat. Sept. 3rd.
