BACK TO REALITY

Mercredi 24 Octobre 2012

After the heady highlights of the H Cup and an exciting Montpellier v Sale, last Sunday afternoon, the boys are back on the hard and long road of the TOP 14, this weekend we reception newly promoted Grenoble Rugby Club.
The charges of President Marc Chereque and Coach Fabrice Landreau are having an excellent season so far, Pro D2 Champions last season, and they have had great success already this year lying 5th, just one point behind Montpellier on 22 pts. This match could be a potential banana skin for Montpellier; you only have to remember Bordeaux-Begles and Brive last season to know just how easy it is to take opposition for granted and come away looking a little red faced.
The Grenoble coach Fabrice Landreau is very aware of Fabien Galthie’s work ethics as he spent time in Paris with the Montpellier boss and knows how the Montpellier guru works. Grenoble have also brought to their ranks players like Shaun Sowerby, Nigel Hunt and Blair Stewart to reinforce an already good squad with loads of potential but also to bring the necessary experience to the club in their new adventure into the Elite.
On the other hand Montpellier are maturing nicely, there is now a degree of calm even when things are not going entirely their way, Montpellier have learned that the word patience can be very rewarding and their ball retention is gaining in ground every match, but Grenoble in coming to Stade Yves de Manoir on Saturday ko.18.30 have absolutely nothing to loose and will be attacking the home side on all fronts.
It is up to Fulgence Ouedraogo and his troops to make sure that they shut down any chance of counter attacks or aggression from the visitors, he must as always lead his men from the front and take Grenoble head on, we have a front five now capable of aggression and power, a back row second to none and with quality throughout the three quarters who are ready to strike with the speed of the infamous cobra.
The biggest problem could well be Fabien Galthie’s team choice, as with all our Argentineans back on board (at least for the moment) and the infirmary slowly clearing its injured, Montpellier are at last having the possible luxury of many players vying for many positions, that is the world that every coach would like to be in!!!
Remember there is an extra hour added to Saturday evening so another good reason to get behind Montpellier and support the boys to a rousing victory and then a couple of beers afterwards in the Bodega.
