PREPARATIONS FOR PARIS
Mardi 02 Octobre 2012
Tuesday’s training day was performed under a radiant sun and bright blue skies; the main schedule was to get the forwards ready and prepared for a Battle Royal upfront.
Racing Metro are well know for their forward play and certainly have the size and weight to give most TOP 14 teams plenty to worry about.
Montpellier had Drikus Hancke back in training after his back injury against Toulon, slowly the infirmary is shedding its load and soon our beloved Argies will be hitting town after their 4 Nations Championship games, another good reason to put a smile on the coach’s faces.
This morning there was plenty of activity, firstly Thierry Cassan took the boys through their paces with his Greco Romaine body strength programme, which although looks difficult to perform it certainly produces results, there was a slightly unfair pairing of Vincent Pelo, Alex Tulou and Francois Trinh-Duc (I will let you guess who won that little battle) There were some three-quarter workshop groups while the forwards concentrated on the line outs and then the usual attack and defence game to finish the mornings work. Everything was done at pace and it is obvious to all present that there is a definite buzz in the way the squad is putting in the hard yards, the quality of the atmosphere and team spirit is there for all to see
The training session came to a close with the customary player coach and press interviews.
Saturday will also see for the first time this season an exchange of referees from Great Britain, the man in the middle for Saturdays game is Welsh Ref, Neil Hennessy, and for the 1st round of the H Cup against Toulon at the Stade Mayol the following week, is no other than English ref Wayne Barnes, this will be the first time that he has taken charge of a H Cup match involving Montpellier, but he speaks good French so there should be no problems.
