THE BATTLE AT BATH.
Publié le 15/11/2011
Bath rugby club was founded in1865 and is one of the most titled rugby teams in England, 6 times Champions, and runners up 5 times, 10 English Cup victories and one H Cup Final victory where they came out narrow winners against Brive in Bordeaux in 1998 the score 19-18.
During the 2000’s Bath have not been as strong as in previous years but nevertheless are still formidable opponents, they are lying 7th in this seasons Premiership with 4 wins and 4 defeats for a total of 18pts.
This season they have fortified their ranks with players like Stephen Donald, every Frenchman knows the All Black no.10 who slotted the winning penalty against our French World Cup team in the Final earlier this year, of course there are others, Francois Louw a quality flanker from South Africa, also Micheal Claassens also South African who has made over 100 appearances at scrum half for Bath, plus several UK Internationals, the likes of Lewis Moody, Simon Taylor, Matt Banahan just to mention a few.
Then you have the “Rec” Bath’s home ground, small but when full and it will be full next Sunday afternoon, it vibrates with the home crowd support, so nothing will be easy for Montpellier but if they manage to produce the same mental attitude and the physical performance that they displayed against Leinster there is absolutely no reason why Montpellier cannot come away Sunday afternoon with 4 points.
Bath lost their first H Cup pool game away to Glasgow Warriors, so they are already on the back foot and a good performance by Montpellier could produce some panic in their ranks, all this week Galthie and Bechu will be preparing the boys before they leave for Bath on Saturday, the match is televised by Canal + on Sunday afternoon ko. 15.00 local time.
Follow the quest of Montpellier in their first ever H Cup year.
