TOULOUSE IN TOWN
Publié le 22/12/2011
This coming Friday the opposition is French Champions Toulouse the last game in the first half of this seasons TOP 14. The game will be played in front of a full house as all seated tickets have already been sold; the only few places left are standing pitch side so maybe even a new capacity record could be broken.
Armed with their Armada of stars but with a home defeat this weekend in the H Cup against Harlequins, Toulouse will be hungry and looking for points. The last two years Montpellier have had good success at home to the rugby giants of France, although they were a little lucky last season, Toulouse missing a last minute conversion more or less in front of the posts.
All of Montpellier’s key players have been rested or played a very small part in the game against Glasgow, and with Toulouse in town the Montpellier squad will be increasing the rhythm and intensity this week in training, and for next Friday’s game, but the coaches Galthie and Bes will have their work cut out to construct a game plan that could be the downfall of the French Champions because they will also have done their homework, Guy Noves the Toulouse head coach is renowned for his expertise.
Montpellier having won their last 3 TOP 14 games which were played in a very hectic period of 8 days, with wins against Clermont, Lyon and Biarritz and 13 points gained they are now sitting pretty with 27 points and only 3 points behind the 6th qualifying place for next seasons H Cup and Championship playoffs, there is still a long way to go but points gained are kept, and this will continue to advance our Blue and Whites. If Montpellier can go into this most important of games with the right mental and positive attitude there is absolutely no reason why they cannot take at least 4 points of the Champions and move on to the New Year’s Eve home game against Racing Metro.
